The South Grenville Rangers are back at home tonight, set for a 7:10 puck drop at the Ingredion Centre vs. West Carleton Inferno. Coming off a tough 6-0 loss against Vankleek Hill Cougars, they look to turn their game around. When asked about the loss, SGR assistant captain Cam Dillon said “They were a very fast, skilled team. We didn’t have our feet [last night] and we got pumped. It’s that simple. We can usually put up goals every game, but we didn’t have it.” Ranger’s GM Lucas Stitt added “If we don’t show up, teams like the Cougars will put the pedal down all night. Our dressing room is full of accountable young men, and they know having half of our team out of the lineup isn’t an excuse to take a night off. I expect the real Rangers to show up against West Carleton tonight.” Goaltender Lee Spurgeon had a strong game, making a remarkable 52 saves on 58 shots. Cougar’s goalie Frederick Durocher stopped all 17 shots he faced all night, shutting out SGR.
Tonight’s game is important for the Rangers. “We need to be better from top to bottom. We need to come ready to play a full 60 minute game to prove to everyone why our record (13-4-1 ) is what it is. We are a good hockey club and [tonight] we need to prove that again.” Said SGR rookie Jordan Poulin, when asked about last night’s game. Starting tonight will be ’99 goaltender Samuel Limoges-Ring, who’s current record is 4-0-1, with a 1.97 GAA. Stitt has plenty of confidence in tonight’s starting goaltender: “Ringer has stepped up this season, giving us two great starting goaltenders. He will be ready to play tonight.” Limoges-Ring is in his second year with the Rangers, and will look to improve his 7-6 career record with SGR tonight.
West Carleton is currently at the bottom of the East division, with an 1-16-2 record. With another short bench, it will be crucial for The Rangers to ensure that they learn from tonight’s game to turn things around. Come out to show the boys home support in Cardinal.
