Game Review – South Grenville Rangers vs. North Dundas Rockets

The South Grenville Rangers took on the North Dundas Rockets on Sunday, a rivalry game in which SGR could take a 5-point lead over ND in the standings. South Grenville took care of business at home, winning the tilt 4-1. The Rangers’ goals came from Chris Row, Justin Saab, Brody Ranger, Matt Giroux, and Sam “Buzzy” Martin.

SGR GM Lucas Stitt spoke after the resounding win, saying, “In a rivalry game, emotions tend to run high. Our guys did a better job of staying composed, and when we did cross the line and draw a penalty the guys were able to kill it. We worked hard and were able to stifle a powerful offence, holding them to one goal.” The Rangers’ penalty kill was successful in the matinee game, killing off all 8 penalties the team took.

South Grenville’s passing also helped push the team over North Dundas, with assists coming from Jordan Dodge, Jack Finnerty, Matt Giroux, and Brody Ranger. Assistant Captain Cam Dillon sat down with SGR reporters to discuss this aspect of their game. “We have a lot of great playmakers on the team, that can get the puck to our guys that are in a position to score. It also helps when you have Rocket Richard contender Jordan Dodge making his way to the scoresheet with an assist.”

Despite a scrappy game, SGR fought their way to a win pushing them to 20-7-2. The Rangers are back in action at home this Saturday, set for an 8:30 puck drop vs. the Clarence Castors. Clarence is currently leading the east division and first in the NCJHL, they sit 5 points up on your Rangers. Come out and help us #PackTheTrack! - Liam Manderville
