South Grenville takes a 2-0 Series Lead over Metcalfe
2/27/2019by Liam Manderville

The South Grenville Rangers were hard at work this weekend, defeating the Metcalfe Jets by scores of 10-4 and 7-4. After the high scoring weekend, SGR has 5 players on the top 10 stat leaders (NCJHL). D-men Zach Hotte, Tristian Loomis, and forward Braydan Forestell each have 6 points, while Cameron Dillon and Carson Pickup closing out the list with 5.

After his 2nd 3-point game in game 2, Forestell spoke briefly, getting a mere three words in to SGR reporters. “I like playoffs.”, explained the mid-season signee out of Belleville and Carleton University, before getting promptly distracted inside the dressing room.

Two more SGR players that have made a strong impact on the team thus far into the playoffs are the defensive pairing of Hotte and Loomis.

“When the SGR was put together, it was by design to have 2 over-agers that were best friends to complement each other on defense. Hotte is a steady defensive defenseman. He brings an intimidating physical presence and makes a great first pass. Loomis is a great two-way defenseman, who has an ability to jumpstart plays and create offense without sacrificing his defensive duties.” - GM Lucas Stitt

With this defensive pairing followed by 5 more strong younger defensemen, The Rangers look forward to the upcoming games in this series.

Despite 5 specific players in the top 10 for points, the team effort required to play this well in the playoffs has showed. Almost every player on the team has a point through just two games, and every player has made plays on both sides of the puck to positively affect the game.

The blue, red, and white look to continue their hot streak on Thursday night at home, with a 7:30 game three puck drop at the Ingredion Centre. Come out and show your South Grenville Rangers support! #PackTheTrack – Liam Manderville
